WAIPUKURAU.
[by electric tejdegbaph.] Friday, June 19—4.55 p.m. The weather cleared yesterday afternoon ; it is bright and warm to-day. The flood, though high, was higher last year. The rivers are falling rapidly to-day. A Maori swam across with the mail, at 11 a.m., being the first communication since Monday, except by telegraph. The Ruataniwha mail started, but the mailman found the river impassable at the Gorge, and returned ; he will start to-morrow morning. The Porangahau mail left in the forenoon. The country is looking beautifully green. The telegraph has been in great requisition, keeping us well posted in news ; otherwise we should have been completely cut off. Revision court in Napier superintended by telegraph, otherwise a number of claims would have been struck off. No mail hence till Monday next.
