Kegistee. — Forms of claims to vote may now be had at this office. Nelson Papers to the 17 th January are to hand by the Star of the South. His Honor the Superintendent re.turnecl to the province by the s.s. Wellington, on Saturday last. The Anniversary Tea Meeting in connection with St. Paul's (Presbyterian church) takes place this evening. The chair will be taken by his Honor the Superintendent. Wairarapa Journal. — We have to acknowledge the earlier numbers of a new journal under this designation. It is well got up and ably edited. The p.s. Cleopatra, advertised to steam for Wairoa and Poverty Bay on Thursday, 23rd instant, will not sail till Tuesday, January 28. Coppeh. Tokens. — -His Honor Judge Johnston has expressed an opinion that there "is no danger whatever in passing; tradesmen's tokens, and those other copper coins peculiar to the country." District Prize Firing. — The times for the District prize firing, and other information connected with the approaching competition, will be found in an advertisement which appears in this day's issue. Racing from the Spit. — On Friday last, two cab-drivers were each fined £2 and costs for furious driving in the streets. The fact was, we believe, that the two vehicles were racing from the Spit, when the police judged it necessary to interfere. The Prince's Visit. — Mr. M'Lean, when lately in Wellington, conferred with the ministry upon the subject of the Prince's visit to native districts ; but nothing, we believe, was finally determined upon, pending further information as to the Duke's own wishes in the matter. Te Aute Bush. — The fire in this bush still rages with great violence ; and the flames, consequent on the change of wind yesterday, have spread in a new direction. Yesterday Cobb's coach wns delayed two hours through trees having fallen across the road. Several men are at work keeping the road clear,
