AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET.
[Reports for tho week ending January 10.] MR. BUOKLAND'S REPORT. At tho Triangle, on Tuesday, there waa a steady demand for store cattle ; not many were offered. Merino wethers brought 9s 3d to 9s 6d each ; half-bred lambs, 9s eaoh. At Remuera, on Thursday, there was a numerous attendance, and a full market of stock. Store cattle of all descriptions, but particularly young cattle, sold freely at full rates— higher relatively than the fat stock. Fat cattle offered plentifully, many of them of choice quality. Prices were irregular, hut rose as the sale proceeded. Average fat oattle brought 35s the 1001 b ; 84 head wero sold to the consumer. Fat sheep pens were fairly filled, and prices from 2s to 4s per head higher than have lately ruled. A few pens of very choice lambs sold at high rates, but in medium quality thero was no improvement in value. At the wool sale held at tho Haymarket yesterday, there was the usual attendance of buyers. All the wool offered was fully competed for, up to its assumed value. Prices ruled at from l^d to 2d tho lb less than was obtaiucd at the December salo, ono parcel only of washed wool reaching 13-id ; the greater part bringing about Is the lb., and from 5Jd to 7£d tbo lb for wool in grease. A large portion of the wool pitched consisted of merino wool from natural runs. Unwashed realised from sid to 7*} d ; imperfectly washed from 7d to B§d per lb : showing that unless wools are thoroughly well washed it is preferable to sell them in the grease. 219 bales and 85 bags were offered for sale, and all sold but 11 bales. For the flax the competition was limited. Tbe greater part of tbat offered was stained during the process of manufacture. It brought from £6 to £13 the ton. One parcel, about 1£ tons of brightcoloured flax, was freely competed for, and realised £18 10s the ton.
