M. Guizot, the celebrated French historian, has reached his 84th year. TnE Adelaide Government has granted to the mounted police a gratuity of 2s. 6d. per day during the Duke's visit,, for their exertions in keeping order during the stay of H.R.H. Colonel Carey. — It was expected, when the November mail ]cHt England, that General Campbell would be replaced at Aldershot by Colonel Carey, C.8., lately in command of a brigade in New Zealand.
