DISTRICT COURT.
(Before His Honor CDS. Ward, Esq., District Judge.) Wednesday, July 3, 1867. This was the day for criminal business, but there were no cases for trial. Fhiday, July 4, 1867. The Court sat this day in its civil jurisdiction. Somerville v. Morton. This was an action to recover £148, damages for breach of agreement by taking away a publican's license from the Royal York hotel. The evidence was substantially the same as that given in the Resident Magistrates' Court. Verdict of nonsuit, with costs. Stuart fy Co. v. France. This was an action to recover £91 for goods sold delivered to the wife of defendant. Judgment for £37 10s., being the amount of debt up to the time of defendant's leaving the colony, the court considering that Mrs. France was left with sufficient means for necessary expenses. The verdict carried costs.
