Boiling Down. — The prospectus of a boiling down company appears in this morning's Herald. No English Mail from this province has been forwarded since last Panama steamer. The Lord Ashley was too late for the mail via Suez, and the non-appear-ance of the Taranaki renders it very improbable that a mail will reach Wellington in time for the Panama boat on the Bth instant. The Public Health.— We regret to learn that several cases of typhus feyer have broken out in Napier — in at least two instances terminating fatally. Measles has also made its appearance, and is spreading rapidly. Athenaeum.- — The annual meeting of members was held on the evening of Tuesday last. A report of the proceedings is unavoidably held over till Tuesday. Thistle Bill. — A copy of the amended Thistle Bill appears in this morning's issue. Those interested should give it careful attention. This Day, Mr. John Stuart and Mr. Edward Lyndon both hold sales by auction. For particulars see advertisements.
