Eclipse of the Moon. — A partial eclipse of the moon took place on the night of Thursday last. The time is thus noted in Chapman's Almanac, and corresponded pretty nearly with the fact: — first contact with the shadow, 655 p.m, ; middle of the eclipse, B*2l p.m.; last contact with the shadow, 10 p.m. It was seen to great advantage. Mr. Locke.— This gentleman" has mentioned to us that our contemporary is in error in reporting that he (Mr. Locke) said on the hustings that he would not support a Thistle Act. He is quite prepared to support an Act for the protection of agricultural districts ; and, indeed, made an attempt, last session, to get one introduced. We believe all the town members are pledged to support an Act of this kind, if framed in such a way as to protect one class without; bearing oppressively, upon another. Nothing more is wantea. The Petane Election — In noticing, in our last, the Petane election, we were fn err or in stating that the two candidates had an equal number of votes. Mr. Torr. had; 6,. and Mr. Parsons 11— -the 'litter , being •.returned by a majority of five;; .. .
