Friday, January 18. (Before S. Deighton, Esq., R.M,, and James Fraser, Esq., R.M.) Stwley v. Karawia te Rai7ii,~A debt case. Judgment for plaintiff with costs. Elms v. MBricrty. — This was a charge of a most aggravated nature. The prisoner, a well known character, pleaded drunkenness in extenuation of his offence, but was informed by the Bench that the plea was an aggravation instead of a palliation. He was sentenced to three months' imprisonment with hard labor, in the Napier Gaol. Monday, January 21. (Before the same Bench.) Sturley v. Gemmel. -Debt, £18 12s 7d. Settled out of court. Tola v. Reed— Debt, £2i 15s 2d. Settled out of court.

Hattke's Bay Agricultural So-ciety.-A meeting of persons interested (and who is not directly or indirectly ?) in having a show at Meanee about the time of races, is convened for to-morrow (Wednesday) afternoon, at the Meauee hotel. We trust to see a large "number of settlers preseut. There should be no apathy on such an occasion as this. A Mere Scratch. — The eighth and concluding cnapter of this story will not now come to hand till the arrival of the Panama steamer. Our magazines have hitherto reached us via Suez, but everything, this time, seems to have been kept back for the other mail. We must therefore ask the iudulgeuee of our readers—especially those of the fair sex— for a day or two.
