MARITIME INTELLIGENCE.
The St Kilda, pending arrangements for the repair bf damages sustained while on shore, has been temporarily paid off by the government— the servioes of the engineer and ohief offioer only being retained. The Rangatira left Wellington on Sunday, 15th instant, at 3 p.m., a strong head wind blowing at the time. Arrived off Castlo Point on Monday at 7 a.m. ; discharged a quantity of oargo, and, at noon, weighed and prooeeded to Napier. From the Castle had fine weather, and brought up in tbe roadstead at midnight. Three steamers left port on the afternoon of Tuesday last— the Rangatira and Beautiful Star for Auokland ; the Ahuriri for Wellington, fhe Beautiful Star, with 1000 sheep on board, was late in the tide in consequenoe of the strong westerly wind that blew all day, but sucoeeded in getting to sea through good judgment displayed by the Assistant Pilot. The Ahuriri was detained till evening to enable His Honor the Superintendent to proceed to Wellington by this opportunity.
The little outter Iris, has at length been put into efficient repair, and is now a good serviceable vessel; It will be seen from our advertising columns that her first trip is to Wairoa, on a visit of inspeotion to the new township of Clyde, On the banks of that river. r :
