Hawke's Bay Herald. TUESDAY, OCTOBER 18, 1864.

Br the 'Queen' we learn that the General Assembly was to be called together for the / 1 5th of next month. It was said that, as the short time intervening would not permit of the requisite accommodation being provided at Christchurch, the session was intended to be hefd at Wellington. An early meeting of the Assembly is, in all respects, most desirable — as offering the only feasible solution of the difficulties which now beset the colony. The escaped prisoners were still at large ; and a disturbance in the North was apprehended. A good deal of alarm prevailed among the settlers. The Southern Cross of the 13th, however, hints at decisive action of some kind being about to be taken in this most disgraceful affair.
