ANNUAL CONTRACTS. Commissariat, Napier, ' - . 27th November, 1861. TENDERS will be received at this office until Noon of MONDAY, the 16th day of December next, from persons willing to contract for furnishing the undermentioned supplies, in such quantities, at such times, and at such places within one mile of the Barracks at Napier as maybe directed by the undersigned, or by his successor in office, during the twelve calendar months com* xnencing the Ist April next, under the conditions hereinafter specified, viz. : — PROVISIONS, FUEL, AND LIGHT. Coal (Australian), at per ton The Fresh Meat to consist of Beef and Mutton* delivered in the proportion of five days Beef and two days Mutton*, weekly. When Beef is issued, fore and hind quarters are to be delivered "to the Regiments or Detachments alternately. Six inches to be cut off the hough and neck bones. Mutton to be delivered in carcasses. Both Beef and Mutton (in the proportion above stated) to be issued in detail daily, to Officers and others of the Staff and Departments. The senior Commissariat Officer or Officer deputed by him to have the power of inspecting the live Cattle and Sheep intended for slaughter, and of rejecting any animal considered unfit for the use of the Troops.. The animals to be killed and ready for the inspection of the Commissariat Officer at such times and places as he may appoint. The Bread shall be the produce of cleans sound Wheaten Flour of the best quality, and baked (24 hours before issue) in loaves of 2 fts. each. The Mould Candles are to be properly seasoned by being kept on hand by the Contractor for a -suitable period after manufacture. The Firewood to be Tea Tree, or other hard wood, split and cut into lengths of 4 feet. The Contractor for supplying Firewood must have -constantly on hand, in a place to be approved by the undersigned,' or his successor in office, a stock sufficient for fourteen days' consumption, from which stock alone issues are to be made. The stock to be at all times subject to the inspection of the Commissariat, and all Wood that is objected to at such inspection must be immediately removed. The Wood, although paid for by weight, accbrding to the tender, must be de.livered by measurement, and stacked for that purpose by the Contractor on delivery : 71 cubic feet being-considered -equivalent to a ton of 2240 fts. The Contractor will be bound to supply Officers with Contract Coal, Firewood, or Candles, delivered at their Quarters (in quantities not exceeding their regulated allowances), payment for which at the Contract rates to be made direct to the Contractor, and no claim to exist against the Commissariat. FORAGE FOR HORS E«S, (AT PER RATION.) The Ration to be 8 lbs. Maize or Oats, 4 fts. Bran, 32 fts. Hay, 4 fts. Wheaten or Oaten Straw, at the option of the Commissariat. HOSPITAL SUPPLIES. Each article to be of the best quality that can be procured. The Purveying Officers to have the power of rejecting any article offered, and if proper supplies are not immediately substituted, the (Purveyor to have the power of purchasing at the expense of the Contractor.
