To the Editor of the HaivTce's Bay Herald. Sir, — After the meeting at the school -house the other day, I thought it was considered final that school-house was handed to the Government as a common school-house, under the meaning of the Education Act, to obtain the assistance of Government. To my surprise and regret, I saw a subscription list going the rounds -with hi 3 Honor's name at the head of it, subscribing £50 for self and family towards building a school-house near the Kouian Catholic ChapeL JNow, Mr. Editor, I ask you and the public of Napier, why not assist the school-house that the early settlers struggled to erect, instead of building another schoolhouse. I hope his Honor will think before he attempts erecting a common school near the Catholic Chapel, previous to assisting the common school that is already built. Old Colonist.
