After silence during sustained criticism of his captaincy in the tests against the South Africans, R. E. S. Wyatt (Worcestershire) in an article in the “Evening Standard” says: “My relations with the selectors are excellent. They and every member of the side supported me. The crucial decisions, while taken on my own responsibility, were not reached without consulting various members of, the team.
“The selectors never tried to persuade me to adopt a policy against my judgment. For some critics I have whole-hearted contempt.
