100,000 People Attend the Funeral of Will Rogers
12,000 THEATRES DARKENED HOMAGE TO WILEY POST (United Frm Association—By Electria Telegraph Copyrights Received 1.45 p.m. to-day. LOS ANGELES, Aug,- 22. With high officials of the United States Army and Navy representing President Roosevelt attending, the funeral service of Will Rogers was held in the presence of 100,000 people, necessitating a detail of 400 police to handle the crowds at Forest Lawn cemetery. The motion picture industry was at a standstill, and more than 12,000 theatres throughout the country were darkened for two minutes. Simultaneously, vast crowds palid homage to the services of Wiley’ Post at Oklahoma City.
