CHANGE IN LONDON. BUSES
DIESEL TYPE TO BE USED 57,000 VEHICLES TO BE REPLACED (British Official Wireless.) Received 2.30 p.m. to-day. RUGBY, Aug. 21. The test of 850 Diesel-engined London buses during the past few years has satisfied London passenger transport experts with their superior advantages to petrol-driven vehicles on the grounds of economy and safety, and the board has decided in replacing the existing fleet of buses and coaches and to order only the Diesel type. There are some 57,000 buses and 500 coaches in the service. The changeover is not expected to be completed for ten years. ,
