Roger Pryor.
.Roger Pryor, leading man of "Strange Wives," coming to the Grand Theatre on Saturday and Monday, was born in New York City, August 27, 1903. He is the son of Arthur Pryor, famous band leader and composer. Following his early years at the Dwight School, New York, and private schools, he took to the stage, making his first appearance as a juvenile with the Mysklc-llarder Stock Company at New Brunswick, Conn. Ilis first New York appearance was in "The Back Slapper," in which he played the male lead. He made his first picture, "Moonlight and Pretzels,"Tor Universal and signed a long term contract with that studio. He has since appeared on the screen in "I Like it That Way," "I’ll Tell the World," "Wake Up and Dream," "Romance in the Rain," "Belle of the Nineties" with Mae West. Pryor is six feet tall, weighs IGO pounds, has dark hair and dark, brown eyes. Adolphe Menjou. Adolphe Menjou, who will be seen in "The Human Side" at the Grand Theatre to night and to-morrow, was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., February IS. IS9O. As a boy he was sent to Culver (Military Academy and then to Cornell University, where he took active part in college theatricals. A sto'ck company in Cleveland, Ohio, followed his graduation from Cornell. When the season closed, Menjou tried pictures, breaking in with extra work at the Vitagrapli Studios in Brooklyn. His first real success, however, did not come until after the War, in which lie took part with the Cornell ambulance corps unit. He joined as a private and was promoted to a captaincy with the Alpine division. Charlie Chaplin’s casting of Menjou as the man in the full dress suit •in "A Woman of Paris” made him, as far as pictures were concerned.
