The possibility of reducing unemployment by shortening the hours of employees was again discussed by the trade union congress council. The Minister of Labour said that since the previous meeting there had been twenty meetings with employers’ organisations. The Government would be pleased to reduce working hours if a real agreement on a voluntary basis could be reached between employers, and the trade council undertook to consider the position- and communicate its views to the Minister.
