PIHAMA BOY SCOOTS

NEW TROOP FORMED. (From Our Own Correspondent). A meeting was held in the Pihama Hall on Monday to form a Boy Scout troop. The Rev. J. G. Wood (Opunake) presided and outlined the aims and objects l of the Scout movement to a large audience of parents and others •interested. It was unanimously decided to form a troop and the following officers w e' e appointed: Chairman, Mi" T. M. Guild ; committee, Messrs. A. Petty, G. Corkill and S. Cooke. Mesdapies Cooke, E. Harrop, E. Penfold and Miss ]*’. Harrop; secretary, Mr E. P. Riley. Mr W. IT. Haggett and Mr S'. Bell, secretary and Scoutmaster of the' Opunako troop respectively, were present. Mr Bell was elected Scoutmaster and Mr W. Allan and Mr R. Julian jnr., assistant scoutmasters. The election ol a Cubmaster was held over until the first meeting of the committee which was fixed for tlie first Monday in August. The troop intends to start with a social evening. * PERSONAL NOTES.
