HOLDING OF DAIRY PRODUCE
BOARD’S- POLICY NULLIFIED PJHAMA REMIT ADOPTED (By Telegrapn—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., June 26. The holding of dairy produce in London for more than a reasonable time after discharge from steamer was objected to in a remit from the Pihama Dairy Company which was dealt with by the National Dairy Conference today. It was contended in the remit that this practice nullified the policy of the Dairy Board in spreading shipments from ‘ New Zealand and thus giving a continuity of supplies on the Home market. In moving a remit on behalf of tho Pihama company, Mr J. Toaland said it was felt that the board should make it a rule that produce should go forward evenly and within a reasonable time of arrival, and thus give clearance before the next shipment arrived. A delegate: Wliat is a reasonable time? , • Mr Tosland: Up to a fortnight or three weeks. We should do as the Danes do and clear shipments every week or fortnight to make foom for further shipments.
Opposition to the remit was expressed by the Hikurangi delegate, who said the directors were elected to do the business of the company for tiie suppliers. Their business was gradually being taken away from them, and anything in the nature of further interference was resented. The remit was carried.
