POULTRY CONFERENCE REMITS
PROSECUTION OF DEFAULTERS REQUESTS TO GOVERNMENT (by Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 27. The poultry producers’ conference concluded to-day. A remit was carried that the board should take action against registration defaultei's after June 30. Several remits asked that the Government be urged to introduce a Stock Foods Bill next session. These were grouped and carried without discussion. A motion was carried that the board should endeavour to have legislation requiring an analysis of meatmeal to be printed on the bags. Other remits carried ask for compulsory grading and inspection of all poultry for sale; An amendment to the law to have the theft of poultry punished in a similar manner to the theft of other live stock; Increased export during the flush season; That tho chief Government poultry instructor ho sent to Australia to look into the export of eggs and table poultry ; That the hoard be requested to export a month earlier; That the Government safeguard the industry against the evils of mass production by taking action to preserve the standard of breeding stock; That tho hoard donate two trophies, one for the South Island .and one for the North for competition for tho best utility bird in a brood in a poultry show. The conference recommended that the Department of Agriculture appoint a trained veterinarian to be attached to the Wallaceville laboratory to devote his whole time to research.
