MATAPU HORSE SALE
TOP PRICE 80 GUINEAS FORTY-FOUR ANIMALS SOLD Forty-four horses were sold under the hammer at Mr T. Hogan’s horse sail Matapu, conducted by tho Farmers’ Co-op. Organisation Society on Tuesday, all changing Hands at very satisfactory prices. The top price of 80 guineas was given by Mr H. Salway, Bell Block, for the registered pedigree mare Vaudeville, in foal to Blue Peter. The registered pedigree mare Ellenbean was sold to Mr Job Harris, Sandon, for 58.) guineas.
A rising four-year bay mare wont to Mr R. D. Knight, Longburn, for £sl, and the Hawera County Council purchased a six-year-old gelding for £‘s4. Other draught horses changed hands at £42, £44, £4O, £4B and £SO l(,s. Lighter sorts made TB3O 10s, £33 and £37.
A keen inquiry for foals resulted in seven of them changing hands at the following prices:—£22, £l9, £lB, £4 5 10s. Rising two-year-olds, which were also keenly sought after, made .£33, £32 10s and £3l.
