MANAIA METHODIST CHURCH
ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS CONCERT PARTY FROM ELTHAM (From Our Own Correspondent.) The 54th anniversary of the Manaia Methodist Church was celebrated on Sunday when the Rev. H. Cottom conducted the services, speaking on “Kagawa” in the evening, Mr J. Hey was organist, and special singing was conducted hv Air K. M. Marshall. On Monday the annual concert was held in tho Oddfellows’ Hall when a party from Eltham presented the following programme:—Solo, Mr Les. Haycock; recitation, Air Bruce Edwards; solo, Miss AI. Pinny; sketch, “Singers Wanted”; monologue, Aliss P. Spencer; solo, Mr F. Silver; sketch, “The Village Fire Brigade”; solo, Mrs A. Svmmans; sketch, “Buzzumpa” ; solo, Aliss M. Pinny; recitation, Aliss P. Spencer; solo, Mr F. Silver; sketch, “Echo Deceiving”; solo, Mrs A. Symmans; sketch, “Sudden Death”; solo, Mr Les. Haycock. A good audience keenly appreciated the items.
During the evening presentations were made to Mr and Airs W. J. Brown, who are leaving for Newstead. Airs Brown was presented with a crystal vase and a posy, Aliss Joyce Brown with a snap album and posy and Mr Brown with a wallet. Air Brown replied. The church report was . given by Mr H. J. Berry and thanks to the party were tendered by Rev. H. Cottom. Supper was provided by the ladies.
