WEEK-END GOLF

MANGATOKI DEFEATED

VISIT. TO OPUNAKE.

During the week-end 20 players from the Mangatoki club met an Opuxiake team in a friendly match. Opunake won eight games to two. Details of the play were as follow, the names of the Mangatoki players being mentioned first: Court and R. MacGregor •beat Cundy and Fraser 2 and 1, G. Pease and Bolger lost to Potter and Mclvor 4 and 3, Linn and L. Pease lost to Watt and Thomas 3 and 2, Knuckey and Hutehen beat Feaver and D. Burton 3 and 2, Anderson and McGregor lost to Baker and Bowater 2 and 1, G. Court and C. Pease lost to L. S. Donnelly and O’Neill 6 and 5, Glover and Hammersley lost to Herdman and Sharp 5 and 3, Taylor and Hammersley lost to Harding and Dr. Griffin 5 and 4, Williams and Linn lost to Foully and H. Barraclough 1 up, Marx and A. Williams| lost to Lewis and Morris 5 aneje 3. During the afternoon tea was served by the Opunake ladies. At the conclusion of play Mr Hutehen, on. behalf of the visitors, thanked the Opunake club for the excellent outing, which he felt sure all had enjoyed. He extended a hearty welcome to the Opunake members to visit Mangatoki. Mr G. Mclvor (Opunake president) replied and cheers were then exchanged and a vote of thanks carried to the ladies.
