.—t MATCH AT THREE RANGES. • - (From Our Own Correspondent). A commencement has been made by the Kaponga. Rifle Club with a rifle tiring competition over 300, 500 and 600 yards ranges. Since 1931 this competition has been fired for at intervals, with the conditions of three wins in succession or four at intervals. Riflemen J. McCarthy and D. Hollard have previously secured three “legs in,” whilst on Saturday when the present match was fired Rifleman E. Scott secured a ‘‘leg in” with a total of 97. Rifleman Scott has been shooting well of late and his score of 97 with boisterous weather conditions was very good.

In a buttons match over 399 yards the holders were defeated by the challengers after holding the trophies lor a brief period. • Scores were: Holders, Riflemen Mellow 30, Brown 29, Izett 29, Heather 28, total 116; challengers, Riflemen Dempsey 33, McCarthy 32, 1). Hollard 31, President Jackson 30, total 126. A return visit is to be paid the local club on Saturday next by the Toko Rifle Club, when a teams match will bo fired.
