Okaiawa Kitchen Tea

A very enjoyable kitchen social was held at- the Okaiawa Town Hall on Alonday evening in honour of Aliss Daphne Smillie. who is to be married shortly. The first part of the evening was devoted to euchre and prizes were won by Aliss E. AVaslier, after a play-off with Airs Poulson, and Air McDonald (Inalia), after a play-off with Air O. Crawford. All* IT G. Betts, on behalf of all present, asked Aliss Smillie to accept the gifts subscribed for her with every good wish for her future happiness. Aliss Washer presented Aliss Smillie with an autumn-tinted posy and Air Campbell responded. Music was dancing was provided by Betts’ Orchestra and Airs Houlahan played extras.

Whakamara Surprise A surprise gift social was tendered on Wednesday evening to Aliss Nancy Langley on the occasion of her approaching marriage. A jolly party “descended” upon the residence of Airs H. Scott for the evening, about 20 young people of the district being present "and a. very enjoyable time spent in games and competitions. Aliss Jjangicy”received many useful gifts. Air A. Davies, on behalf of Miss Langley, thanked Air and Airs Scott for their hospitality and also all who had helped to make the evening a success. Among those present were Alisses Scott, Langley, Barkla, Gulliver, Skevington (2), Davies and Alessrs Davies (2). Gulliver, Barkla, Skevington, Rice, Dobson (2), Wrigley (2), Alilham (2).

Hawera Social in honour of Aliss Sadie Pickett, whose marriage takes place shortly, Miss Ngaire Whyte arranged a very jolly evening in the Scouts’ Hall on Monday night, the party being in the form of a “kitchen tea.” The guest of honour wore a well-cut gown of deep primrose crackle crepe, the hostess wearing black georgette with a yoke of floral georgette, and a pink velvet coatee. Miss Gena Pickett was frockod in nigger brown lace with green accessories. Air T. Horton '(Stratford) asked Aliss Pickett to accept the gifts, and Air J. Henderson (Stratford) replied on the latter’s behalf. The evening was spent in dancing, the music being played by Air C. Davis. Those present included Alesdames G. S. Fry, R. J. O’Dea, Alisses O. McAnc-rin, G. Duke, E. Nicholson. E. Saunders, A. Duke, K. Brown, S. Saunders, Al. Guy, I. Robinson, G. Raweliffo. Al. AlcNeill, V. Jones and L>. AlcNeill.
