Coming-of-Age Party
On Tuesday-evening Mr and Mrs D. ;M. Cowie were host and hostess at an enjoyable evening in honour of the coming-of-age of their daughter, Miss ; Joun Cowie. The evening was spent in games and competitions and vocal numbers were contributed by Misses AI. Hamerton, A. Howell, J. and M. Cowie. Competitions were won by Mr ■R. Gloag and Mr I. Cowie. After supper the Rev. H. B. Burnett proposed the toast of the guest of the evening and asked her to accept the many gifts for which Mr Cowie returned thanks. He handed to Miss Cowie a large golden key which later was autographed by all present. Miss Cowie in turn thanked her visitors and asked them to join in a I toast to her .parents. ' Among those present were Mesdames N. Marshall, H. B. Burnett, Misses E. Castle, A. Howell (Waverlev), I. Wilson (Hawera), N. Alossop, M. Hamerton and E. Balsillie.
