J. le Campion, with Native Cole, who returned the second big dividend of the day and the meeting. Great Vanity, Ideal and Juggler were the early leaders, but when the field passed the stand Ideal had joined Great Vanity, the order behind the pair being Juggler, Tecla, Llewellyn’s Pet, Guy Zolock, with Happi leading the remainder. Going into the bad* stretch Great Vanity had drawn ahead of Ideal, with Juggler, Tecla, Llewellyn’? Pet and Guy Zolock following in that order. Happi started to move up and was in fifth position half a mile from home. The order at the bottom bend was Great Vanity, Juggler. Llewellyn’s Pet, Guy Zolock, Happi, this quintette being well clear of the remainder of the field. Llewellyn’s Pet was in front at the straight entrance with Guy Zolock, Juggler, Happi, and Great Vanity next in that order, with Native Colo making a run on the outer. The last-named continued his run down the Straight to vein by a length from Happi, with Plutus a similar distance away third. The latter efune through from near the rear, and finished strongly. Llewellyn’s Pet was fourth, followed by Ideal, Guy Zolock, Juggler and Silver Black.

Earl Bingen was responsible for an end-to-end victory in the Opunake Handicap. He was backed down to a short price and justified the public confidence by winning by two lengths pulling up. When the field went out of tlie straight the first time Earl Bingen had a clear load of several lengths from Header, Survivor, Modern Lady, Sandy N. t Fleet Arrow and Mabel Chimes. Going down the back the field was well strung out, but there was no change in the order. Passing the stand for t.ho first time the order was Earl Bingen, well clear of Header, Modern Lady, Sandy N. and Survivor, the other two being well out of it. There were no material changes when the'field entered the back stretch, but with five furlongs to go Modern Lady set out after the leader. At the turn for home Sandy N. made a forward move and put in a strong challenge over the final furlong, but he could not get within two lengths of Earl Bingen, who won pulling up. Four lengths back was Modern Lady, and then came Header, Fleet Arrow, Survivor -and- Mabel Chimes.

Gold Seam was early going to the front and he led from Orleigh Mills, Supertax, Harvest In, Bolinda King and Blondie, with a gap to the remainder. Passing the stand Gold Seam was still m front, leading Orleigh Mills, Blondie, Supertax and Harvest In, with Winahow at the head of the remainder. At the half-mile Blondie had run into second place behind Gold Seam, the order of the remainder being Supertax, Orleigh Mills, Winshow and Nelson’s Chum. Blondie was in front at the straight entrance, with Supertax in second place. Orlcgih Mills, Winshow and Gold Seam were next. Supertax came away from the distance post in a strong finishing run to stave off a challenge from Nelson’s Chum, who came on the outer from well back to boat Blondie for second place by a length. Winshow, Bolinda King, Orleigh Mills, Harvest In and Gold Seam were next to finish in that order.

Sylvia Sydney, Pronto Bingen, Aristotle, Plain Pearl, Harold Denver and Smooger was the order passing the stand the first time, the same order existing going out of the straight and into the back stretch. Five furlongs from home Pronto Bingen and Sylvia Sydney were together in front, with Plain Pearl and Aristotle in close attendance, the other pair being wmll out of the picture. Crossing the top Pronto Bingen had a slight advantage from Sylvia Sydney, the order of the remainder being the same. Sylvia Sydney again headed Pronto Bingen halfway down the straight and held on to win by a length. Plain Pearl beat Pronto Bingen by a neck for second place. Aristotle was fourth, followed by Smooger and Harold Denver.
