The general inference is that an intense anti-cyclone is centred near the Chatham Islands, while a complex series of depressions covers the Tasman Sea. The foreeast is for strong northerly winds reaching gale force in places. The weather will be cloudy to overcast and at times misty, with intermittent rain possible. Temperatures will be mild, with seas rough off the shore.
