SECOND DAY AT RANDWICK SYDNEY CUP TO AKUNA SILVER JUBILEE SCORES.

The attendance exceeded 60,000, which is the best for many years. The track was in splendid order. Proceedings opened favourably for New Zealand when Silver Jubilee won the La Perouse Handicap after a thrilling tussle in. the fina* strides. A 7 ista appeared to have a slight advantage a*" the half distance, but superb riding by A r oitre landed Silver Jubilee a winner by half a head. The stewards had an inquiry into the form displayed by Silver Jubilee compared with his form at Warwick Farm on April .13. After bearing liis connections they decided to accept the explanation. Bimilla proved the best'of the fillies. Makiug flic pace throughout, she won goiug away in the Easter Plate. Akuna, practically friendless, won the Cup after an exciting struggle in the final stages, half heads separating the three placed horses. Sylvandale suffered slight interference passing the three furlpugs due to King March suddenly dropping back, resulting in Sylvandale losing his position, which probably cost him the race. Gold Trail and Master Brierly were prominent for a considerable part of the journey, but failed to finish on. Results are: —

Passing the half-mile King March clapped on the pace and led into the straight just clear of Dark Chief, Sylvandale, Broad Arrow, Rogilla, Gold Trail, Master Brierly and Akuna. Bronze God made the early running from Garrio. Glanely and Allunga, but Garrio was first to turn for home, and, going on, won with ease by a length. Time, 1.122. « ' Second. Division. One More, 7.G (Knox) 1 Silver Standard, 7.7- (Zensky) . 2 Cognac, 7.13 (Marsden) 3 Fourteen started. Cognac made the running and led into the straight from One More, -Silver Standard, Gymkana and Beamish Bay. In the run to the post One More did best and won by a neck. Time, 1.13}.

TO CAL HANDICAP. Of £6OO. One mile and a-quarter. Vice-Royal, 7.12 (Zensky) 1 Trcmarne, 7.3 (Knox) Rivalli, 5.12 (Maxwell) ...... 3 Fourteen started. Bombus took up the running and led into the straight from Vice-Royal, Tapestry, and Measure, but Vice-Royal-eaipe with a fast run and won with ease by two lengths. Time, 2.5}.
