A fund is being raised privately among those who have retained allegiance since the Treaty of 1922 for a jubilee gift to Their Majesties the King and Queen from the Irish Free State. A total of £ISOO already has been collected, the money being willingly subscribed by all classes. A portion of the fund will be used for the purchase of a souvenir and balance allotted to some worthy cause, possibly nursing.

JUBILEE POEM TO MUSIC. POET LAURATE’S' VERSE. Received 12 noon to-day. LONDON, April 20. The “Sunday Express” says that with Mr John Masefield’s permission, it gives a verse from his jubilee poem set to music by Sir Walford Davies, Master of King’s Music. The six lines are:—

“To God whose mercy led us through The years of war into this peace, Grant that the world may make anew Man’s spirit, that his quarrels cease.

O power, hear us as we sing And bless this country and her King.”
