All Germany Beflagged in Honour of His Birthday PRESENTS FROM THE ARMY AMAZING BROADCAST

Crowds assembled before the Chancellery at Berlin to see General von Rlomherg present the congratulations of the army, contingents of which goose-stepped to the beating of drums.

General von Blomberg, writing in the Voelkischer Boebatchter, said that by introducing conscription Herr Hitler had put the male population’s education in the hands of the army.

Herr Dietrich, Nazi Press chief, writes: “Amid all the tension of international politics Herr Hitler, with an audacious decision, has -stamped an army out of the ground.” “This man, who for two whole days held 1.5-hour conversations with Sir John Simon, a statesman from worldmighty England, negotiated Europe’s fate in polished dialogue, with complete mastery of argument and figures, is ready at any moment to speak quite naturally to the ordinary people,”, declared Dr. Goebbcls in the course of an extraordinary Hitler birthday broadcast. “Hen* Hitler caii give unity to Germany,” he added. “To make such hard and unpopular decisions and yet retain the people’s heart is perhaps the most wonderful secret of. our time.”

“Herr Hitler is a complete, allround military expert and knows every gun and every part of a machine-gun like a specialist,” added Dr. Goebbels. “Yet he carries only one military title, because nobody under the sun can honour Herr Hitler except Herr Hitler himself. He is fanatically obsessed with his mission, for which he sacrificed a fortune in private life. We around him receive our light from his light, often within a small circle of his co-fighters. “It will be terrible when some day the first of us dies and a place becomes vacant which cannot again be filled. With prophetic vision he predicted on January 1, 1934, that Marshal von Hindenburg was likely to die that year. Yet Herr Hitler lives the ■simplest life; his menu never varies, whether he is dining with close friends or with high statesmen.” King George has sent Hern Hitler a congratulatory telegram, but the text is not available as a . The Berlin correspondent of the “News-Chronicle” says that under the proposed new military law conscientious objectors, may suffer the death penalty in wartime or when war threatens, as also may anyone sabotaging the nation's “defence will” or insulting the armed forces. ’The new law’s purpose is to prevent undermining of the military spirit. Another Beilin message states that the death sentence for belonging to pacifist organisations in war will bo incorporated in the new army law.
