PYJAMA GIRL MURDER

Court Story of Man’s Alleged Confession of Crime BODY FOUND IN CULVERT STATEMENT TO NEWSPAPER

(United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph Copyright). ADELAIDE, April 21. When Robert Henderson Rae appeared in the Adelaide Court on Saturday charged with vagrancy the police prosecutor informed the court that Rae was claimed to be the murder of the girl whose body was found in a culvert at Albury last September. The crime was widely reported in New Zealand and Australian papers as the pyjama girl case. Since discovering the body the police have been unable to unravel the crime. Rae, who had declared he came from New Zealand, went into an Adelaide newspaper office last Thursday and said he had brought the girl from New Zealand. After that they lived as man and wife. In a fit of rag© he strangled her and then disposed of the body. Rae when interviewed by the police would neither admit nor deny the foregoing statement. He was unable to recollect going into the newspaper office. He was remanded until May 4.
