INDIANAPOLIS WINS

TROTTING AT ADDINGTON WAR BUOY WINS BELFAST' REAL BURTON; SEA GIFT .

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) . - CHRISTCHURCH, April 20. The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club’s Easter meeting opened today. The weather was Hue after over-, night rain and the track was in excellent order. The attendance was excellent and tne totalisator investments amounted to £29,015 10s, compared with £39,812 10s last year, when there was the. special attraction of match races between Walla Waila and Harold Logan. Concluding results of the first day were:— ‘

Also started: 2 Cloudy Range (bracketed with Tempest), 5 Eureka Boy, 9 Major Lind, S Queen Author, limit; 4 Master Roy, 6 Muriel dc Oro, 7 Somerby, 12yds bhd; 10 Arikitoa. 24. “ Eureka Boy at the half mile was three lengths clear of War Buoy and Major Lind, with Somerby, Tempest, Queen Author, Master Roy and Taxpayer next. Eureka Boy and War Buo_v were together entering the straight, but \yar Buoy drew out and won by a length from Taxpayer, with Tempest half a length away and Eureka Boy fourth, fourth. Time, 4.26.

WILKIN HANDICAP; - Of £.250; 4.40 class; 2 miles. 5 Real Burtou 12yds (McTeigue) J .1 Chcchalieo, limit (Berry) ..... - 2 4 Guy Junior, limit (King) Also started: 6 Marie Celeste. 9 Betty Wrack, 2 Nobleman, 7 Recess, 10 Tangatu, limit; 3 Llewellyn’s Pride, S Wise Guy, 12yds bhd; 11 Fernbrook Lass, 48. Real Burton led down the back from s Betty Wrack, Wise Guy, Recess, Clioeliahco, Llewellyn’s Pride and Guy Junior. The positions remained tho same over the next six furlongs. With half a mile to go the order was' Real Burton, Wise Guy, Betty Wrack and Tangatu. In a close finish Real Burton beat Checlialico by a . length, with Guy Junior half a head away and Recess fourth. Time, 3.26.

AUTUMN HANDICAP;- 1 Of £250; 3.28 class; 14 miles. 1 Sea Gift, 24yds (E. J. Smith} 1

Sea Gift had charge with a round covered, followed by Explosion, Gay Parce, First Wrack and Standby. Sea Gift still led round the far turn and was followed into the straight by New Metford, Trampfast, Explosion, First Wrack and Standby. Sea Gift stayed in' the run home and won by a length from New Metford. Standby - was three lengths away and Trampfast was fourth. Time, 3.19 4-5.

EXPRESS HANDICAP. With half a mile to cover Agile was closely, followed by Bin gem Palm and Bracken." Bingen ' Palin ‘led Agile into the straight, with Bracken and Manoeuvre next. Bracken did best in the run home and. won by .three-quarters of a length front Bingen Paint. Manoeuvre was a length away and Agile was fourth. Time, 4.21 4-5.. FLYING HANDICAP. Mountain Dell was the first to show out, but Indianapolis had charge with two furlongs covered and led past tb© : stands front Great L6gan, Mountain Dell, Roi l’Or and/Auburn Lad. Tho : order was the same into the back, and Indianapolis was followed at the home - turn by Great Logan, Roi l’Or and ", Mountain Dell. Indianapolis had to be shaken up to win by half a length from Roi ’l’Or; with Great Logan three lengths away and Mountain Dell fourth. - Time, 2.37 2-5.
