- 7 . THREE TRENTHAM VICTORIES FIELDS BETTER THAN USUAL WELL-BACKED HOUSES SCORE. .By Telegraph — Pfe** Association. A FEATHERSTON April 20. Fine weather and the best attendance for the last couple of years assisted towards the success of the opening day of the Wairarapa. Racing Club’s autumn meeting at Tauhereiiikau racecourse to-day. The fields were better than usual, the programme revision decided upon by the stewards proving eminently successful, particularly in the hack races, and good racing was the result.

The public were wide of the mark in the first two races, but thereafter well-backed horses were consistently represented in the places. The totalisator investments' for the day were £11,999, compared with £10,551 last year, an increase of £1448. A feature of the day’s racing was three Consecutive victories scored by horses from T. R. George’s Trentham stable. The chief event was won by a Taranaki visitor in Davistock, while Gisborne’s promoted, hack, Big. Dook, won the sprint race.
