Fraser Road Branch

On Friday the Fraser Hoad branch of the W.D.F.U. held its second birthday- celebration in the form of a euchre social and dance in the hall. There was a record attendance of members and friends with visitors from Tokaora, Eltliam- and other districts, 96 players sitting down at the card tables. Prizewinners were as follows: Ladies, Mrs Treweek 1, Mrs Notman 2; men, J. Stockman 1, H. Death 2; consolations, P. Moller and R. May; Monte Carlo, Miss N. Nicholson and Mr li. Newell.

Supper was served by members and a two-tiered birthday cake was cut by the president (Mrs Galbraith), who first -welcomed the visitors and in a brief speech spoke of the aims and objects of the W.D.F.U. and the- work achieved by the local branch. Mrs Cocker, of Eltharn, on behalf of the visitors, replied, wishing Fraser Road success in the future. Mrs Tosland, of Tokaora, also replied and wished Fraser Road a useful and prosperous future. Miss Doreen Treweek, on behalf of the W.D.F.U., presented Mrs Galbraith with a posy.

Dancing was enjoyed to music supplied by Mrs A.- Campbell, the Misses E. and D. Sanderson, Miss I. Rangi and Mrs Bruce.
