France Extends Period From One to Two Years EASING OF LABOUR MARKET < 100,000 MEN INVOLVED . (United Press Association—By Ejectric Telegraph Copyright). Received 11 a.m. to-day. LONDON, March 6. The Chronicle’s Paris correspondent say-s the Government has definitely decided to extend the period of compulsory- military service from one to two years, for which it is shortly presenting a Parliamentary Bill.. Radical and Socialist opposition to the extension has largely disappeared, as two years’ service would take 100,000 young unemployed off the labour market, and France’s internal situation is becoming so desperate thatit is dominating everything, else..
