The catching of white butterflies in thousands was accomplished by a Gisborne resident this summer. He constructed a net, and was securing hundreds a day. At first he kept a tally, and within a few weeks had caught approximately 4400. Then, he lost count, and was also discouraged by the fact that no one else followed liis example of trying to reduce the pest.
