MANAIA BUSINESSMEN

PRESENT ASSOCIATION TO CONTINUE. CHAMBER OF COMMERCE PROPOSAL, With The object of forming a, Manaia Chamber of Commerce a very largo and representative mooting of the Manaia Businessmen’s Association was held last evening in the Town Hall Mr. T. W. Armitage presided

Messrs E. K. Cameron (president of the Hawera (Dhamber of Commerce), and Mr. T. M. Ellis were present at the invitation of the association, and both gave an outline of the aims, objects and success of a. Chamber of Commerce. Many questions were asked, and after discussion it was resolved on the motion of Mr. L. C. Harrison, seconded by Mr. R.. L. Bennett, that the present Manaia Businessmen’s Association continue to function, as it was felt that Manaia at present was not large enough for a Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Cameron stated that the Hawera Chamber of Commerce would give tile Manaia association every assistance when required. At the conclusion of the meeting, tlio chairman thanked Mr. Cameron and Mr. Ellis for their address which, he said, would be very beneficial to the association. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr. Mae Diarmid, seconded by Mr. Bennett, that monthly meetings be held oil the second Tuesday in each month. Many suggestions were made for the agenda paper for next meeting.
