Man With Four Children Poses as a Widower WOOL GRADER’S ESCAPADES , STATEMENT TO POLICE (By Telegraph—Tresa Association.) AUCKLAND, To-day. Maitland John Lee Smith Sinclair, aged 39 years, a wool grader, was committed for sentence to-day on a charge of bigamy. He admitted having been married in 1925 at Hastings to Lillian Beddingfold, and he went through a form of marriage with a young woman in Auckland on January 29 last. His wife gave evidence that her husband told her be was a widower with one child. In 1931 she discovered that lie had four childiom and that ho was posing as a single man. and was making Jove to a widow. I She then secured a separation order and an order for maintenance of herself and their two children. He had not paid her very often. A woman of 22, who went through a form of marriage, said that after eight days, she discovered he was married already, and left him. In a statement to the police the accused said he was very much in love with the young woman, and was afraid that if he told her the truth he might lose her. That was the only reason why 7 he went through the form of marliage. Prisoner did not apply for hail.
