CONCERN OVER INDIA POLICY
NEW SITUATION CREATED ATTITUDE OF THE PRINCES. (United Press Association—By lOectrio Telegraph Copyright). LONDON, Feb. 26 “The Indian Princes’ resolution has created a new situation in the Govern* mcnt’s India policy,” says the Daily Mail. ‘“Ministers concerned with the passage of the India Bill held an urgent meeting to consider the position.” The Mail adds that the princes’ attitude greatly shocked Cabinet. The Bill must now either be completely recast or dropped. On the contrary, the Times’ Bombay correspondent emphasises that tho resolution does not mean that the princes will not co-operate in the federal scheme. They, merely adhere to the attitude hitherto adopted, namely that fulfilment of certain conditions is essential to their vital interests. If these are fulfilled the princes are willing to join in the federation. The Times’ political correspondent says most of the modifications the princes desire can be effectively met l>y amendments during the committee stage.
