With six weeks to go to end Britain’s financial year, the revenue returns show that there are good prospects that the Budget estimates would be realised, and possibly exceeded. The estimate of ordinary revenue for the current year was £706,520,000 and £575,878,820 has so far come in. An average of £18,773,000 for the remaining weeks; as therefore required to reach that estimate, and as last week’s revenue was £24,401,461, it would seem that the anticipations should be realised.
The income tax total is up on last year’s, and £43.831,000 remains to be collected to roach the estimate. Last week £13,008,000 came in— Other items are well up to the estimates, expenditure being about the same as last year, £622,256,750, but the estimates including suppflementarv grants was for £711,100,000.
