LEAVING ON MONDAY. PRIVATE VISIT TO NORTH. (By Telegraph—Press Association^ CHRISTCHURCH, Jan. 17. Arrangements for the departure of the Duke of Gloucester from Lyttelton on Monday night at the conclusion of. the official part of his New Zealand tour have been completed. The formalities will occupy nearly an hour. The farewell of most of the members of the New Zealand official party which accompanied him on. the . tour will he taken by His Highness at his._ hotel at Christchurch, and official fare- . wells in the reverse order to the procedure followed at the wharf reception at Wellington on December 15. last will . he carried out on the Lyttelton wharf. _ Those participating will he the Mayor of Lyttelton, the chairman of the harbour board, the Hon. J.-A.—Young,— the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates and the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes. f * The Duke will embark in H.M.A.S. Australia at C. 40 p.m., and as the Royal Standard is broken from the cruiser’s masthead the sloop Leith from her anchorage outside the harbour will fire a Royal salute. The Governor-General , Lord Bledisloe, will arrive at 0.45 p.m. and will take leave of His Highness on hoard the cruiser, going ashore a quarter of an hour later. At 7.15 p.m. the Australia will leave the wharf and as the cruiser passes the outer mole a Royal salute will he fired by a shore battery. The Duke’s visit to the far north is to he of a purely private character, and there will be no public receptions.
