SWIMMING AT INGLEWOOD

NEW TARANAKI RECORD*. DEAD-HEAT IN CHAMPIONSHIP. At the swimming carnival conducted at the Inglewood baths last night, the Taranaki 220yds women’s championship was decided, the event providing the most thrilling finish in a championship event for a long time. The race resulted in a dead-heat between Misses J. Alleman (Inglewood) and V. Camcross (Eltham), the time being 3mm. 6 I-osecs., which was a new Taranaki record, the previous time being 3min. 27secs. Two polo matches- were played, Inglewood women defeating New Plymouth women by six goals to two, and Fitzroy senior men defeating Inglewood by five goals to nil. Details are:
