SPECTACULAR WRESTLING
SONNENBERG BEATS DETTON TWO SENSATIONAL FALLS (Bv T-Jcgraph—Freas Association.) AUCKLAND, Sept. 17. Gus Sonnenberg, former wrestling champion of the world, and Dean Det-( ton were responsible- for about 40 min-1 utes of the brightest and most exciting wrestling seen in recent years. Sonnenberg won by two falls to one, the bout ending in the fifth round. There was a sensational opening to the match, Sonnenberg charging head first into his opponent three or four times- immediately the gong had soundled. He then pounced upon Detton to secure the- first fall with a body press ijvithin 15 seconds of the start. . The second fall went to Detton in the third round, when after a series of flying tackles he back-loop slammed his opponent and got down for a btody press. The -match ended almost as sensationally as it had begun. At the end af the fourth round Sonnenberg escaped from a possible Boston crab by pulling himself under the ropes. Sonnenberg repeated this performance early in the fifth round and Detton began to arguewith, the referee. While thus engaged Detton was bowled over with flying tackles and Sonnenberg pounced upon him to secure the winning fall. 1
