<b WOMEN’S institute meets 1 1 REMITS FOR DISTRICT CONFERENCE | (From Our Own Correspondent.) ’ The monthly meeting of the i Women’s Institute was held yesterday li n the borough council chambers and the following members of the comrnittee were present:—Mesdames Hillmer 1 .in the chair), A. MacPherson, F. H. Ham, E. E'. Carter, J. Cocker; C. Horrocks, O. Manley. • An apology for absence was received from Mrs Jones ! who thanked the Institute for its letter of sympathy with her in the illness of lier mother. Remits were discussed at length for the Institute Conference to be held in Hawera early in October. It was decided to hold a flag 1 ‘SOO evening in aid of the funds of the Institute on October 3. PERSONAL Mr R.. Scown, of Fraser Road, is at present an inmate of Melrose private hospital. Miss B. Gower, of the staff of the Eltham Argus, has accepted a position in Christchurch and will leave Eltham on Wednesday. Miss R. Gibb, of the borough council staq, is at present absent owing to illness. Sir Walter and Lady Carncross left yesterday by mail train on their return to Wellington. Mr C. A. Wilkinson, M.P., returned to Wellington by train yesterday.
