HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY’S SHOW.

A meeting of tne general committee of the Normanby Horticultural Society was held on Friday evening, when Mr A. ,E. Linn presided and there was a good attendance. The following were elected new members: Messrs A. Shearer, R. J. O’Dea, J. Sanderson, N. Leppard, J. Kennedy, A. Baine, C. H. Oliver, M. C. Mclntyre, G. Good, J. E. iMeuli, D. Wards, P. Whitelock, M. Hockley, L. Valentine, R. Minhinnick, T. H. Grey, J. R. Nairn, R. Norfolk, O. H. Bowman, Mrs W. Henson, and Miss D. Swadling. It was reported that Mr A. S. Rogers, of Hawera, had consented to act as judge at the spring show on Wednesday. The following appointments were made: Stewards, Mesdames T. J. Allan and G. W. Gane, Misses V. Allan, P. Gane and E. Free; Sweet stall, Mrs J. A. Arehbold; refreshment rooms, in charge of ladies’ committee; hoop-la, Mr C. Scheuber; doorkeepers, Messrs Grant and Minhiimicki
For the dance in the evening Walden’s orchestra was engaged and Mr L. Hitchcock appointed M.C.
It was decided tO hold w r orking bees on the Monday and TVesday evenings prior to the show.
DOUGLAS CREDIT ADDRESS. On Friday evening in the Normanby Town Hall an address on Douglas Social Credit was delivered by Colonel Closey. There was an audience of about 30. Associated with Colonel Closey was Mr H. J. Finlay, president of the South Taranaki Douglas Credit Association, and Mr W. Davy occupied the chair. At the conclusion of the address a number of questions were asked and answered, Colonel Closey being accorded a vote of thanks, carried by acclamation on the motion of Mr P. J. Clement, seconded by Mr B. Hughes. A number of tnose present remained after the address and handed in their names as new members of the Normanby "Douglas Credit branch.
