LEGION OF FRONTIERSMEN

M SQUADRON AT HAWERA. ADDRESS BY MAJOR FINDLATER. At the quarterly meeting in the Scbuts Hall at Hawera last Friday evening of the M Squadron Legion of Frontiersmen there was an attendance of over 30 members from the Eltham, Stratford and Ohawe troops. Major J. C. Findlater (Hawera) act-ing-New Zealand Commandant, was also present, and during the evening he submitted a report on the progress of the newly-formed troops in the South Island. Oaptani W. Rlieketts (chairman) gave an address on the business of the annual conference held at Napier in June last. The meeting adjourned at 10 p.m. and a short .smoko followed, with Lieut. E>. A. Langley in the chair. Musical items and a short toast list was as follows: “The King,” “The 9000,” proposed by Major Findlater; ‘N.Z. Headquarters,” proposed by Capt. Ricketts and responded to by Major Findlrfter; “Army, Navy and Ai r Force,” proposed by Trooper Packard and .responded t(i by Lieut. Cariici'oss; “The Ladies,” proposed by Sergt. MoGari’igle and responded to by Sergt. Davis. Sergeant Briggs pontributed songs, and Lieut. Carfleross a recitation. Mr Billows was accompanist.
