A DREAM COMES TRUE
Amateur Prospectors Discover Gold=Bearing Reef
UNUSUAL CIRCUMSTANCES FIND NEAR WHATAWHATA ,By Telegraph—Press Association.) HAMILTON, Sept. 17. While fossicking in the hills on the Waikato Land Settlement Societies’ property at Whatawhata, ten miles west of Hamilton, three amateur prospectors discovered a reef showing in the preliminary assay small quantities of gold and silver. This area is not generally regarded as gold bearing, but in view of the assay results it is considered possible that a richer reef may be found in the locality. Further samples have been sent to the Thames School of Mines, and when the results come to hand investigations will be continued.
The discovery was made under unusual circumstances, in that the location of the reef was revealed to one of the prospectors in a dream, by his late father. When found, its characteristics corresponded with those of the dream reef.
