HAWERA WOMEN’S CLUB

OFFICERS APPOLNTET) FOR YEAR MRS. O’CALLAGHAN RE-ELECTED PRESIDENT The annual general meeting of the Hawera Women’s Club was held .on Saturday afternoon, Airs W. •A. O’Callaghan presiding. There were about 50 present. The report and balance sheet were adopted. Circle convenors were elected as follows : Play reading—Alias Corrigan ; arts and crafts—Airs A. E. Stevens; bridge circle—Airs P. O. Yeale, A AVelfare Circle was formed at the suggestion of the president, to take the place of the now defunct sewing circle, and Airs W. F. Buist was appointed convenor. Two new circles were formed, a FolkDancing group, with . Airs J. Houston as convenor, and a “Sunshine Outing” circle, air arrangements being left to Airs Kemp who was appointed convenor. After discussion it was decided to carry on the music circle and Aliss T’eillv consented to continue to act as convenor jointly with Airs P. O. Vealc. It was decided to carry on with the discussion and lecturette group, but to have evenings every second month instead of monthly as in the past. Aliss Glenn was appointed convenor. Airs O Callaghan was re-elected president unoirmosed and Alisses E. Caplen and AI. Burgess and Airs J. Houston were appointed vice-presidents. The following committee was elected : Alesdames AlcL’Dowie, Lysaght, Thomson, Duncan, Adams, AVhiteliead, and Alisses Corrigan and Buchanan.
