HAWERA SCOTTISH SOCIETY
MONTHLY SOCIAL TSSEMBLY. There was a very large attendance at the monthly social evening ■of the Hawera Scottish Society on Wednesday and the occasion proved replete with enjoyment. A concert programme occupied the first part of the evening. Mr. D. McCormick, the society’s chief, presiding. The arrangement of the programme was in the hands of Mr. J. E. Campbell. The items were as follow: Songs, Mrs lb. S- Alhvright, Miss El. Twaddle, Miss M. Macßae, Mr. R. S. Alhvright; recitations, Miss Joan Moore and Mr. D. McCormick; piping duet, Messrs Campbell Bros.; instrumental trio, Messrs A. Sargeson, G. McConnell and W. Green; string quartet, Mr. and Mrs. Antoni Bonetti and Misses S. Ryan and Gould. The accompanists were Mesdames L. A. Tavlor, P. O. Y'eale and Alhvright and Mr. A. Maeßae. During the evening a presentation was made by Mrs. Wilmer Marr to Miss Jean Allan, whose marriage will take place in the near future. Mr. McCormick expressed the good wishes of the society for Miss Allan’s future happiness. ‘ After supper Mrs. Attrill played dance music with Piper lan Campbell providing music for national dances. The supper arrangements were supervised by Mrs Gannaway and the decorations by Mrs, Smith.
